What the eyes cannot see, the heart does not regret. The modern world is very comfortable. Most of us don't have to worry about producing food, we just go to the store and shop. Foiled cucumbers and eggplants, spinach and lettuce in foil packets, bottled drinks, packaged processed and frozen foods. Cleaning products, toilet paper, stretch film for packing parcels, plastic containers for everything. Clothes, eight billion jeans a year, electronic appliances to make life easier, cars, heavy industry. Almost all human activity is associated with the production of waste, often waste that decomposes many times longer than our lives, gradually poisoning the environment. The highest elevation in the city is an artificial hill created after the former landfill, where waste was stored for 40 years. It has an area of 14 ha and a height of 157.4 meters above sea level. We are drowning in waste, rubbish does not disappear when we take it out of the house, only a small part is recycled. Waste management is a lucrative business, waste disposal in the city is worth PLN 128 million annually. You have to pay for disposal, so some people take tires, municipal and post-repair waste to forests, wasteland, farmland or throw into ditches. I documented green areas, rural or even the smallest urban scraps, and intervened in them, pulling waste from between the plants and arranging them into abstract, temporary sculptures, resembling anthropomorphic shapes of scarecrows. I would love to create projects that show the positive relationship between humans and nature, and probably it is somewhere in the world, but what I see is mainly exploitation, pollution and destruction. Although it is known that people are not able to control the planet, despite the feeling of such an illusion by some of us. The souvenirs we leave become part of the ecosystem, gradually absorbed by the processes of natural decomposition or soil-forming processes, they will be covered with overgrowing plants.
